As a grandparent who has grandkids come over almost daily, and being a good grandfather, I let them use our computer. Heck, taught our youngest granddaughter how to type, move around the net, and all that good stuff. Now if you have kids or grandkids, you probably do the same and let them surf away on the internet. And if you are like me, you watch them either continuously while they are online, or you check them off and on. Just to make sure they don’t run off into areas of the internet they should not be on or visiting. So I make sure that my grandkids are only on parent or grandparent approved sites. Quite a few real nice kid friendly sites on the net and as I find more, I bookmark them in a folder just for the kids. This way, they have a list of sites they can visit and I watch if they click on a link to make sure it does not lead away from any site that is kid friendly.

And yesterday came across this site that is just super for girls! And boys also if they are into dressup the girl stage (had a nephew that went through this stage of dressing his sisters’ dolls). I know my granddaughter will like this site, as there is quite a variety of doll games to keep her busy for hours if not days. Does this mean my computer time will drop when she is visiting? The site is called Dress Up Doll Games and it is one site all parents and grandparents should bookmark for their youngsters. Yes, I recommend this site as I actually played some of the games and saw absolutely nothing wrong or bad that would put any adult off. Anyways, if you are looking for sites for your kids or grandkids (and hey, even the teens would love this one), check this site out now and do as I did and bookmark it. I use a folder in my favorites that is marked “grandkids” and that is something you might do.

Have one of those domains in your portfolio you developed into a site, but you never really liked the domain name itself? You might consider that domain name a crap domain name? Or maybe you have been told that your site is great, but the domain name is crap? Yes you do, we all do. Those domain names that really have nothing memorable to them, yet to get some page rank or money out of them, we develop them into something, anything. It could be a directory on a domain name that means nothing or a site selling some script and the domain name is something like bilgewater? Well, don’t hide that domain, have it showcased!

New site where you can have your domain name showcased so that visitors to this site can click on the domain name and be hustled off to your site. It is an advertising site but hold on to your wallet! You will not have to pay to input your domain name and have it linked to your site. Yes, at the Showcase Your Crap Domains it is free to advertise your domain name. Very simple to include your domain name as the site tells you how to input it and how to have it linked to your website. Of course, if you want to make your domain name stand out amongst all the domains shown, you can purchase upgrade options like a different color and/or size font. Do go by soon and input your domain name among all the others there on the site now. Not everyday you find a site where you can advertise at no cost!

I know a lot of domainers that have tons of domain names they have collected, bought, traded for, and ended up with over time. And most of the domainers are always looking for an easy way to sell off domains. Why sedo, moniker and other sites with domain auctions do a big business. But as a domainer myself, I have noticed just as you may have noticed that most of the domains at these auctions just sit there and never get a bid. That there are more domains that never sell and more domains show up daily, upping the numbers to an unreal amount that are just sitting there waiting for a bid. With that problem, a lot of domainers put up sites and blogs just to sell their domains. But most of them have to do it manually without a script to automate the process as most scripts to do this that I have seen cost a nice pretty penny.

So how about a nice script that is free? Even though I have to tell you, do donate to support the person who wrote this script and keeps it updated so that he can keep it up and give it away free to any domainer who wants to use it. Go to Domain Name Portfolio and check out this neat script you can download and then upload to your site to sell off your domains.

The script is simple to upload and to set up on your site. You can first see a demo of this script HERE. Very easy php based script that uses just one mysql database. Using this script will help any domainer to keep their entire domain portfolio organized and in one place. If you saw the demo you saw that the domains are listed with: Name of the domain, Category of the domain (great to further break down domains into adult, business, telco, etc), Registrar of the domain, Expiry of the domain, Price (if you are looking for a set price), Status of the domain (available for sale, make an offer) and lastly a contact icon (the envelope). This makes it so much easier not just for the domainer to keep track of his ( or hers, let me not forget all the fine women domainers) but for the visitor.

Again, go to Domain Name Portfolio and grab your copy of this fine script. And start keeping track of all your domains and to start selling them to your visitors. And if you find the script your domain salvation, do donate to the author of the script. Just click on one of the paypal donate buttons on his site. In any event, if you use the script and like it, do let him know that you are and where it can be found.

One thing about being online as much as I am is that I do run into and get to chat with some very interesting people. One reason I do like Twitter.com. Oh, if you have a twitter account, do go to my twitter page and follow me. http://www.twitter.com/iowadawg

I am a member of quite a few forums (some I do not even know about until I either get an email from the forum admin or someone tells me about a forum and I find out I am a member already) and do spend quite a bit of my time online at forums. One of the forums I like to spend time is http://www.namepros.com and in their chat area. Quite a few nice people there and I do enjoy chatting with them on just about any subject. Plus some members are quite helpful if I have a question or if another members has a problem, everyone pitches in and helps as much as possible.

One of the members there is a nice woman called MellowMasher (the Domain Chick of the subject line). She is in jolly old England and no, I don’t hold that against her. So instead of going on and on about how I related to her and vice versa, how about telling you to go to her blog? Yes, she has a blog and it is an interesting read. She even mentioned me today! Check out the Domain Chick blog soon and say hi to her for me.

How many times have you had to email or use a long url, one that broke down or wrapped into two lines? Times like that, you probably wanted to know if there was an easier way. Well, there is an easier way to take long urls, especially those long affiliate urls, and make them smaller. Plus of course, hide those affiliate urls as people can see them and know they are affiliate urls and probably not bother clicking on them.

Short URL aliases are seen as useful because they’re easier to write down, remember or pass around, are less error-prone to write, and also fit where space is limited such as IRC channel topics, email signatures, or microblogs that have a character limit for each post (140 in the case of Twitter). Also some email clients impose a maximum length at which they automatically break lines requiring the user to paste together a long URL rather than just clicking on it. A short URL alias is much less likely to become broken.

Now there is a site where you can take a long ugly url and have it shortened down to an easy to remember and use url. That service is new to the internet and is called Make It Tiny URL Service. Here are two reasons to use this new service:

1. With MIT URL Service, you can also make a smaller URL that will work for any page on your site. Let’s say that you have a website with the homepage that is at: http://www.my-internet-isp.com/~myusername
Entering that URL into MIT URL Service will create a URL like http://miturl.com/p7Nh887gb

2. Are you posting something that you don’t want people to know what the URL is because it might give away that it’s an affiliate link? Then you can enter a URL into MIT URL Service, and your affiliate link will be hidden from the visitor, only the miturl.com address and the ending address will be visible to your visitors.

Before you use a long ugly url in your next email, post to a forum, or put it into your website or blog, head over to the MIT URL Service site and get it shortened! You and your viewers will be glad you did.

One thing all women are always looking for, at least from my perspective and having a wife that cooks super good, are more food recipes. Whether to have a change of pace for dinner, or to try something completely different, women are online constantly looking for good food recipes. I know my wife is alway looking for something a bit different, whether it is because she wants to serve rice or potatoes for dinner or to find a recipe that will make a cut of pork a lot tastier. And my wife loves to try out different things, whether they turn out good or heavens forbid not so good. If good, she lets her family know of the recipe and if bad, she sure lets them know not to bother with that particular recipe.

When you are ready to hunt down new recipes to try for dinner, or even a party, do go to Recipes Are Free and check out their recipes. There you will find a long category tree of various food recipes, from appetizers to serve before a meal to soups for those wintry days coming up fast. Pick a recipe and you will notice that the ingredients are shown, with how much of each ingredient to use, plus what to do with all the ingredients. How to mix, when to add what ingredient, and how to cook, bake or roast. I found that the directions in various recipes I checked out (yeah, I check out food all the time, see something good I let my wife know) are well thought out and take one step by step in preparing the particular food. Now when you go to this recipe site, please bookmark it as holidays are coming up fast and you don’t want to waste time hunting for recipes.
